ANCHORAGE — Alaska State Troopers say they’ve responded to four standoffs since Thursday and all of them were peacefully resolved.
KTUU reports that one of the standoffs ended late Sunday morning after it prompted the closure of the Dillingham airport.
Troopers spokeswoman Beth Ipsen says Dillingham police received a call Saturday evening about a serious incident involving a suicidal man who was intoxicated and carrying a firearm.
Ipsen says the man had barricaded himself inside a building so close to the airport, officials decided to temporarily close the facility. A dozen members of the Special Emergency Reaction Team were flown in to assist.
The airport reopened shortly after the man surrendered.
Dillingham police say the man is in custody on a police charge of weapons misconduct, but has not been formally charged.
